GMTC Team Left for Africa on Monday
GMTC Team Left for Africa on Monday

The GMTC team left on Monday on their way to Kitale, Kenya and Manchester, England.

Their agenda in Africa includes bringing solar panels, distributing 1000 pairs of shoes and participating in any building projects that Larry Carruthers needs them to do as well as preaching and teaching in local churches. In England, they will be partnering with a ministry there that serves in the local prisons to rehabilitate young people.

Please pray for safety and health over the team and to see His Kingdom come and His will be done in their journey.

Matthew Thompson - On his way to Thailand
Matthew Thompson - On his way to Thailand

Dear Friends,

On Sunday the 15th of May 2011 I will arrive in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Thank you to each of you who have supported me financially for this trip, and for those who have committed to pray for me. But thanks be to God most of all, for it is truly He who provides. All these good things proceed out of His hand!

I can’t express my excitement for this upcoming journey of discovery and ministry in Thailand. I have made a three year commitment to be on staff with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Chiang Rai, and I’m just stoked about the whole thing!  [Read More]

GMTC's Provincial Outreach in BC
GMTC's Provincial Outreach in BC

This year’s provincial outreach took us up North to two cities, Prince George and Prince Rupert, BC. In Prince George we were blessed to be to able to work with Pastor Paul Berteig’s church as well as Gateway Church pastored by Tim Osiowy. Our team worked hard in both churches, cleaning, leading worship and performed the Decision multiple times. It was beautiful to see what the Lord was doing in young people’s lives as our team testified and positioned themselves in a position of faith and availability for God to use them. A young man was radically saved that night and tore up his cigarettes, saying that he wanted nothing to do with his old life anymore and that he wanted to follow God and what He had for him.

The last leg of our adventure led us to Prince Rupert to see Tony and Barb Price, who were such an inspiration to many of our team. Tony’s zeal for the lost and Barb’s loving hospitality set the stage for an excellent outreach. Our team preformed the Decision in multiple places such as malls, and a few churches. Again we witnessed multiple salvations and the Lord move on young people to continue to aspire to who God had called them to be.

We were challenged yesterday with the fact that in the US military, there are seven workers behind each front line combat soldier keeping the supply lines open so that they can be ready for whatever comes their way and be able to maximize their work. As those who are often on the front lines we want to thank all of you who are part of our supply line.

Whether serving with us short-term, praying for us, procuring things that we need, or supplying the finances to keep our work going, our work simply couldn't be done without you.[Read More]

Penner's Update
Penner's Update

Hi,

Given the date (April Fools), I was tempted to begin this update by telling you that I finished my Ph.D. and the translation team finished drafting the New Testmament, but decided not to. :)

News from Mexico. Pastor Miguel's part of the team finished working through the draft of Luke a second time making revisions, and work continues revising Exodus. He and others from the church also recently visited a couple of distant towns in the area with a medical missionary team. They held a baptism and three people were baptized. (Unfortunately they couldn't get pictures because they were out of batteries and their camera was full!) Miguel said lots of people attended the baptism and he preached from translated portions of Exodus and Luke. He says, "They really understood well what I taught them, because it was the book of God in Mixtec that I read to them..." May God speed the day that the people are able to follow along in their own Mixtec Bibles and take them home when the service is done! [Read More]

Brandi's Update
Brandi's Update

As most of you know by now, these past few months I have been dealing with some health issues. In late October 2010 I unexpectedly had to return to Kelowna to deal with health concerns. I decided it was best for me to return to Canada to get testing done. I have been taking this time to get some much needed physical and emotional rest, as well as spend time with my family. After getting the okay from my doctor that I could return to Orlando and continue my work there, I booked a ticket to return to Orlando after Christmas. I was excited to be heading back and staffing the next School Of Missions, where I would be training up students who are ready to be sent out overseas long-term. As I was crossing the border in the Toronto airport I was denied entry into the States. According to the officer I did not have the right paper work to enter with the status/visa I was previously granted. This was very shocking and upsetting to me that I was not able to continue on, back to YWAM Orlando. Since that time I felt that while waiting for my visa renewal, I need to continue on in God's call for me... [read more]

Everything we are attempting to accomplish in both our personal and ministerial life we are running through the word 'ENGAGEMENT'. 2011 is the year of 'engagement' and as we head towards the end of the first three months, we can see how the Lord has used this word to keep us focused and motivated on the goals we set out at the start of January. In the church our initial push was to encourage the body to become more engaged in sharing their faith... [read more]
