Jon & Kayla on the field in Kitale, Kenya
Fighting the tears, I slowly look around at thirty young and old street people gathered at the local garbage dump for their regular Sunday church service. This dump isn’t just a gathering spot…this is their home. As Jon shares God’s word with them, my gaze focuses just beyond him where a young boy meticulously sorts through the trash, looking for something salvageable to eat. Then as Jon’s prayer ends, I’m moved beyond words as the group breaks into a song of praise and they all come forward joyfully to give into the offering.
How could this be? These people who have nothing…who live in the worst place imaginable…give selflessly into an offering to God. How can we ever say again that we have nothing to give?
My definition of church is rattled as I realize that if Jesus was physically here in Kitale, this would be the church he would attend…with the “least of these”. [Read More]

Adoption Update from the St.Denis Family
Thank you all for your prayers! We are still in the "waiting room" stage, as we are awaiting a confirmation from Uganda on our court date for our adoption of Brian and Kaita. They have given us a tentative date of Aug.23rd. That means we would fly to Uganda on Aug.18th and plan to stay there for approx. 1 month to complete paperwork.. There are many things that need to line up before that, remainder of finances being one of them, but nothing is impossible with God!
This week God used someone to bring much encouragement and we want to share it with you as it can be applied to any situation....." God already has the exact date planned for when these boys will be brought home, whatever happens inbetween, whether it is a day where we receive a phone call of good news, or bad news, it doesn't matter because the end result will remain the same. And it's more about how we respond during the process." Ahhh it's all about trusting our Father.
Please continue to pray for:
• confirmed court date
• health, strength and complete healing for the main judge (we just found out she has full blown aids)
• finances
• God's grace, favor, and justice to reign over all Ugandan/Canadian adoptions
Thank you!
With great expectancy in our God,
the St.Denis family

Update from Kathy Thompson
Dear Prayer Partners,
As most of you should be aware Carl and Amy are entering their last week in the Dominican Republic (I, Kathy have been in Canada for 3 weeks helping my parents after my Dad's stroke).
Carl reports that this week most of the furniture has sold, however he still needs confirmed buyers for the property, van and truck. Please pray for this to happen and for peace and grace for Carl and Amy with all the last minute details.
He and Amy will be travelling early Monday morning to Haiti to meet with a group of American/Canadian Christian Farmers who would like advice on how to help Haiti. Pray for this time as well as safety and good functioning of the van on the rough roads. They will return to the Dominican Republic on Wed or Thurs leaving them only 2 days to tie up all the loose ends at the farm and move what needs to be stored to the capital city.
They will be flying July 19th to Grand Rapids, Michigan to visit our son Chris for a few days. Then Carl will attend a Christian Farmers Conference where he will be sharing on needs in Haiti. They will then drive to Ontario for a couple days to visit a church and friends before flying out to Kelowna B.C. on July 29th. Please pray for safety in travel, wisdom in sharing and the leading of the Holy Spirit in all
things :)
Thank you so much one and all for your faithfulness as part of our team. We can't do it without you!
Blessings,
Kathy
